Global Impacts Programme
The JNCC Global Impacts Programme is
investigating the links between the UK economy and ecosystem
impacts around the world. This work complements other UK government
initiatives and contributes to a better understanding of how the UK
and EU economies are linked to ecosystem impacts in selected
countries.
Work has focussed on three areas:
Key ‘customers’ for the output of the
programme are in those government departments concerned with
sustainable development at the global level (including the UK’s
‘Sustainable Development Dialogues’ with key partner countries) and
with global biodiversity.
A key aspect of the programme is to add value
to existing data sets on trade and investment in a form that allows
links to be made to sustainable development issues and
biodiversity. Data and initial results will be presented through a
project website through to end 2010, after which the JNCC website
will be the prime site for communicating programme
results.
