JNCC is delighted that Sarah Scott-Marshall, our Senior International Biodiversity Adviser, has been recognised on the ENDS Report Power List 2026.
The ENDS Power List names the 100 UK environmental professionals who have made the greatest impact over the past two years – as nominated by their colleagues, clients and competitors. The list is intended to be a celebration of the vast amount of talent that exists in the environmental profession and as an opportunity to shine a light on the work of those delivering positive change.
Sarah plays a pivotal role in shaping the UK’s domestic and international biodiversity agenda, ensuring policy decisions are grounded in robust science and practical delivery experience.
Sarah leads the JNCC contributions to the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which provides comprehensive, evidence based guidance to governments. IPBES assessments on biodiversity and ecosystem services are highly influential across the globe, informing international and national policies.
Sarah is widely respected for her ability to bridge the gap between evidence and policy — translating complex scientific information into clear, actionable insights.
On hearing the news, Sarah said: " 'It’s a real honour to be named on the ENDS Power List among such inspiring champions for nature. In my role supporting the UK government in international environmental negotiations, I work to ensure evidence leads policy and that global agreements translate into meaningful action here in the UK. I’m especially passionate about uniting different sectors to strengthen policy coherence and drive a fair, sustainable future'."
