Protected, Endangered, and Threatened (PET) Mobile Marine Species in Sri Lanka. Community Workshops Report 2025

Abstract

The Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) funded Oceanswell to deliver community outreach workshops focused on Protected, Endangered, and Threatened (PET) mobile marine species in Sri Lanka.

The six workshops were delivered to 474 participants across three coastal communities. The workshops focused on marine mammals, sea turtles and seabirds. Topics covered the ecological importance of PET species in Sri Lanka and conservation efforts, as well as encouraging discussions on traditional knowledge of the species in the local areas.
