We are pleased to announce that the next stage of 7th Quinquennial Review of Schedules 5 and 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act (QQR 7) – the stakeholder consultation – is now open. The stakeholder consultation will run from today, Monday 8 November 2021, for twelve weeks, and will close at 23:59 on Sunday 30 January 2022.
Further details on the stakeholder consultation process are available on the QQR 7 webpage.
Throughout the QQR 7 process, JNCC, working with the Country Nature Conservation Bodies of Great Britain (Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, NatureScot), have committed to:
- Running a transparent process, where all stakeholders have the opportunity to engage and have a voice.
- Maintaining high scientific standards, including rigorous and objective analyses of data and information gathered or submitted.
Following the stakeholder consultation, the data gathered through the process will be used to produce a set of recommendations. These recommendations will be provided to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and to Ministers for the Environment in the Scottish Government and Welsh Government, who will then decide on possible changes to the Schedules.
