Directors' and Committee Expenses

Expenses claimed by Chair, Committee members, Chief Executive and Directors

The government has set out the need for greater transparency across its operations to enable the public to hold public bodies and politicians to account. This includes commitments relating to public expenditure, intended to help achieve better value for money.

Our staff and Committee members are reimbursed for the costs they incur when travelling on the behalf of the organisation’s business, including training courses. The costs covered include accommodation, subsistence (including meals and refreshments) and travel.

We recognise that many of our people need to travel as part of everyday business to ensure that our corporate plan targets are delivered. We use the most appropriate method of travel which takes into consideration sustainability, convenience and efficiency and the cost to the organisation.

We promote a greener working environment in the office and we have sustainable travel policies, including minimising the number of flights taken on behalf of the organisation, to ensure that we are actively pursuing reductions in the carbon emissions.

Expenses incurred by JNCC’s non-executive members (Chair and independent board members) from January 2020 will no longer be available on this webpage, but will be published in JNCC's Annual Report and Accounts.
