Access to information

Requests for information we hold are handled under the following legislation and their purpose is to make public bodies, such as JNCC, transparent and accountable. The right to this information is subject to certain exemptions and exceptions.

Freedom of Information Act 2000 – which gives the public a right of access to information held by all public authorities in the UK.

Environmental Information Regulations 2004 – which give the public the right to access environmental information held by public authorities.

 

Personal Information

If we hold information about you as an individual, you have a right of access to that information. The easiest way to request this information is by contacting the data protection team. We may ask you for proof of your identity. We will respond to your request within one month.

How we handle requests

A reply will be sent within 20 working days. Where an enquiry is unclear, clarification will be sought. If we cannot answer your request within 20 working days, we will contact you and agree an extended date.

What to do if you are unhappy with our reply

You can request an internal review of your FOI/EIR request. This will be handled by our  Head of Communications: Kirsty Meadows.
