JNCC Official Statistics – List and release dates

In accordance with the regulations of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007, and the resultant Code of Practice for Statistics, as a producer body of Official Statistics JNCC is required to maintain a list of the Official Statistics produced, their availability, and production timetables. The following products have been identified as Official Statistics:

Indicators of the global environmental impacts of UK consumption

Produced by the Stockholm Environment Institute in partnership with JNCC. The first release (Autumn 2021) will include data on the embedded deforestation, biodiversity loss and water use within UK consumption. It will be released as a standalone experimental statistic that will feed into the 2022 reporting cycle for the 25 Year Environment Plan’s Outcome Indicator Framework (indicator K1) and the UK Biodiversity Indicators (A4).

Point of first release for statistics on breeding birds

Hosted by BTO

Produced by British Trust for Ornithology under partnership contract with JNCC and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

This statistic reports population trends for breeding bird species in the UK, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, based on data collected by the Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). The 2021 data release contains trends for a reduced set of species, in England only. This is because of the impact of country-specific differences in Covid restrictions on field data collection during 2020, which mean it is not possible to calculate reliable trends for species in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and therefore to produce UK figures. Further explanation and guidance on interpretation is provided with the trends.

Frequency: Annual
Last: 13 May 2021
Next: TBC

Point of first release for statistics on breeding seabirds

Official Statistics reports were not produced in 2017 and 2018 due to resources being focussed on a national seabird census.

The release happened in two parts in 2021. On 29 April 2021 the Table of Results was updated; full species accounts were published on 20 May 2021.
