Evidence Quality Assurance

In April 2019 JNCC revised their single policy on Evidence Quality Assurance, which is based on previous policies and complies with The Government Chief Scientific Adviser’s Guidelines on the Use of Scientific and Engineering Advice in Policy Making (2010) and The Defra Joint Code of Practice for Research (2012).

The policy provides a standard for JNCC staff to follow to help ensure that the quality of our scientific advice and evidence is fit for purpose. The policy presents principles that must be adhered to by all staff when providing scientific advice and evidence.

When procuring evidence from external contractors, JNCC will require that contractors and partners comply with our EQA policy.

Compliance with this JNCC policy will be reported to the Executive Leadership Team and the Audit and Risk Committee.  Monitoring will be carried out as an element of JNCC governance.

The policy is compliant with The Government Chief Scientific Adviser’s Guidelines on the Use of Scientific and Engineering Advice in Policy Making (2010) and The Defra Joint Code of Practice for Research (2012).
